The coronavirus pandemic began at the end of 2019‚ and remote online training continued‚ but face-to-face training in Japan resumed after the end of 2022‚ when the coronavirus pandemic was largely under control. In 2023‚ technical training courses for trainees from many developing countries were conducted at JICA Kyushu on topics such as water resources‚ environment and renewable energy.

Kyoto Golden Pavilion
In order for the trainees not only to acquire technical knowledge and experience practical training‚ but also to experience the culture of Japan and the behavior of Japanese‚ it seems that when we took the trainees to towns or tourist spots after lectures or in weekend‚ they made many new discoveries that cannot be found in their own countries.

Kyoto Fushimi Inari Shrine
What we feel through conversations with trainees is that things that are very common in Japan seem to be surprising to trainees in developing countries. For example‚ "They always gather before the lecture at the training time"‚ "They wait in line before the train comes"‚ "Trains always come on time"‚ "There is no garbage in the city"‚ "Public toilets are clean and the WASHLET is very comfortable"‚ "There are many vending machines in the city”‚ “There are many convenience stores in the city" etc.

Kumamoto Castle
In addition‚ there were many trainees who commented on the deliciousness and abundance of Japanese foods‚ the kindness‚ politeness and dedication of many Japanese‚ and the good security.
