Today we bid farewell to a life changing experience. These have been intense weeks‚ full of learning and exchange‚ where we explored together the complexities of solid waste management aiming the promotion of a Sound Material Cycle Society‚ a topic so essential for our time and for the future of our planet.
I would like to begin by expressing my deep gratitude to the Japanese Society‚ as a whole‚ for believing in this cooperation and provide the funds‚ to the JICA team and Staff‚ responsible for the organization of this course. The level of dedication and attention to detail made this experience memorable. We had the privilege of being here in Japan‚ a country that is a global reference in sustainability and innovation in waste management. We visited places where we saw theories put into practice and real examples of how environmental policies can transform entire communities. It was an experience that undoubtedly enriched us not only professionally‚ but also as global citizens.
I cannot go without mentioning the learning that came from all of you‚ my colleagues. This course brought us together from nine different countries‚ and the diversity of perspectives was a true gift. Talking to each of you‚ sharing challenges and solutions‚ understanding the realities and contexts of each country was inspiring. You brought new ideas‚ solutions‚ and viewpoints that enriched our discussions and made us see that international collaboration is essential to tackle global challenges like waste management.
At the end of this journey‚ we return home not only with new tools and knowledge but with the responsibility to apply and share what we have learned. We know that change is an ongoing process‚ requiring dedication and persistence. As professionals in this field‚ we are committed to influencing our communities‚ our governments‚ and the companies we work with. The challenge is great‚ but I believe that we are all leaving here better prepared and‚ above all‚ more motivated to face whatever difficulties arise. I hope this partnership between our Countries and Japan‚ enabled by JICA‚ continue to be fruitful in creating leadership and good relations between the peoples‚ towards a fairer and more sustainable society.
I wish you all a safe journey back and much success in your countries and projects. And may this farewell only be a "see you soon."
Thank you very much.
