I am truly honoured and grateful to be giving this thanks speech on behalf of my amazing colleagues who have travelled from seven different countries across the world to participate in the JICA Renewable Energy Training Programme.
Our experience over these past weeks has been nothing short of transformative - both professionally and personally. To capture what this journey has meant to us‚ I would like to reflect on the Japanese-inspired concept of gIkigaih‚ which teaches that true happiness lies at the intersection of passion‚ mission‚ profession‚ and vocation.

As the lectures unfolded‚ our collective passion for renewable energy became increasingly evident. By covering a diverse range of technologies - solar‚ biogas‚ hydro‚ geothermal‚ and hydrogen - the programme enabled each of us to discover new interests and clarify the areas in which we wish to deepen our professional focus and contribute further.
Secondly‚ mission and vocation.
We were inspired by Kitakyushufs remarkable journey and commitment to sustainability - from cleaning up severe pollution in the early 1900s to its ambitious 2050 net-zero goal‚ aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 7. This story reminded us that meaningful change is possible. In our own unique ways‚ we will use our professions to improve our cities and countries‚ contributing to universal access to clean energy and the global net-zero agenda.

We would like to sincerely thank JICA‚ the organizers‚ facilitators‚ and lecturers for the exceptional quality of this programme. The seamless integration of theory with real-life site visits greatly enriched our learning and allowed us to see renewable energy solutions in action. These experiences have deepened our understanding and will undoubtedly shape how we apply this knowledge back home.
We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the JICA staff. The warmth‚ kindness‚ and deep respect for culture and humanity that we experienced made us feel genuinely welcomed and valued throughout our stay in Japan.

Lastly‚ to my fellow participants‚ thank you for the shared learning‚ collaboration‚ and friendships. The diversity of perspectives made this training even more meaningful and inspiring.
As we return to our countries‚ we carry with us not only technical skills and professional insights‚ but also lessons in discipline‚ respect for nature and the environment‚ and the importance of cooperation. I am confident that the knowledge and values gained through this programme will help us contribute meaningfully to sustainable renewable energy development in our respective nations.
Once again‚ thank you to JICA and the people of Japan for this unforgettable experience - one we will always cherish. We hope for another opportunity to experience more of Japan.
So on behalf of my colleague from Guyana would say‚ gThank you.h
